John Mutchler's music career has been anything but conventional. Born and raised in and around Washington, D.C., he began gigging at the tender age of twelve. For years, he toured and recorded with various Washington, D.C.-based Hardcore/Punk bands, some of which even achieved cult status.
At the age of 32, John made a significant move from D.C. to Austin, Texas, where he fronted and was the sole songwriter for his Alt-Country outfit, Golden Roses. Over the course of a decade, the band released three albums, two EPs, and maintained an intense live performance schedule.
In July 2024, John decided to take a break from band life, but he didn’t stop writing. With a renewed focus on his craft, he ventured into the Indie-Folk/Americana genre of songwriting. As always, staying true to his DIY roots and Punk ethos, John channels his vast array of life experiences into his songs.
